Pritzker bans indoor service in Illinois Region 4 restaurants, bars

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Due to a worrying expansion of COVID-19 cases on the Illinois border near St. Louis, governor J.B. Pritzker has announced additional restrictions in mitigation efforts in Region 4. Citizens will not be able to patronize bars and restaurants unless outside service is available. No indoor service will be allowed.

Region 4 has only increased its positivity rate following initial mitigations and is now reporting a current 7-day rolling test positivity average of 9.6%, more than double the statewide positivity average of 4.3%. With the exception of Bond County, the area is considered to be at warning levels for COVID-19 activity.

Region 4 includes Bond, Clinton, Madison, Monroe, Randolph, St. Clair and Washington counties.
