Owen County Commissioner charged with official misconduct

OWEN COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An Owen County Commissioner is facing multiple charges after Indiana State Police investigators found he used public resources to his own advantage.

An investigation into Dale E. Dubois, 82, of Poland, Ind., began in August. According to authorities, Dubois directed employees to conduct repairs to a county-funded roadway to ease access to the adjacent property for potential citizens. In reality, its alleged purpose was solely for Dubois’s “personal advantage,” and the work completed by county employees had no benefit to Owen County Government or its citizens.

A warrant was issued for Dubois’ arrest on Tuesday. He surrendered himself to the Owen County Jail later in the evening where he was held on a $7,500 bond with 10% allowed.

Dubois was charged with official misconduct of a public servant, conflict of interest and theft.
