UPDATE: Escaped Putnamville Correctional Facility inmate back in custody

GREENCASTLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A low-level offender who had walked away earlier today from the Putnamville Correctional Facility has been recaptured, according to Indiana State Police Public Information Officer Matt Ames.

ISP Sgt. Cory Robinson captured Christopher L. Davis, 34, in Putnam County, at a residence at 7169 South County Road 25 East. Davis was found sleeping inside a pickup truck outside of an out building at the residence. He was examined by medics and returned to custody.

The Putnam County ISP Post, the Indiana Department of Correction, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the Cloverdale Police Department and Conservation Officers with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources assisted in the capture.

According to the Indiana Department of Correction, Davis, 34, serving time for burglary, was last seen at approximately 1 p.m. wearing a yellow prison jumpsuit. He had been scheduled for release on March 10, 2021.
