Indiana health officials report 605 new COVID-19 cases, 63 additional deaths

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Department of Health on Wednesday announced that 605 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19, bringing the state total to 17,182.

Seven new cases were reported in Greene County and three additional cases were reported in Sullivan County.

A total of 964 Hoosiers have been confirmed to have died of COVID-19, an increase of 63 over the previous day. Another 101 probable deaths have been reported. Probable deaths are those for which a physician listed COVID-19 as a contributing cause based on X-rays, scans and other clinical symptoms but for which no positive test is on record.

On additional death was reported in Vigo County, bringing the state-reported number to six; however, the Vigo County Health Department has only reported four coronavirus-related deaths. They said a fifth person who tested positive for COVID-19 died of unrelated causes. The sixth death was not included on the county dashboard as of Tuesday morning.

As of Tuesday, county totals were:

  • Clay – 18 current, 1 death
  • Daviess – 36 current, 11 deaths
  • Greene – 49 current, 6 deaths
  • Knox – 4 current, 6 recoveries
  • Martin – 7 current
  • Parke – 12 current
  • Sullivan – 16 current,
  • Vermillion – 7 current
  • Vigo – 56 current, 6 deaths

To date, 91,550 tests have been reported to ISDH, up from 87,181 on Tuesday.
