Indiana coronavirus total nears 6,000; death toll surpasses 200

INDIANAPOLIS — The coronavirus death toll in Indiana reached 203 Wednesday, while 439 more Hoosiers tested positive for the virus.

The state total is now 5,943 confirmed cases of COVID-19. In the Wabash Valley, Vigo County is reporting six additional cases of coronavirus according to the county health department; however, that total differs slightly from 32 total cases reported by the state.

Clay County reported four additional cases, bringing the total to 11, while Sullivan and Greene each reported one new case since Tuesday. Knox County is also reporting two new cases not yet included in the state total.

Marion County had the most new cases, at 151. Other counties with more than 10 new cases were Bartholomew (11), Hamilton (29), Hancock (12), Hendricks (17), Johnson (19), Lake (43) and St. Joseph (13).  The Lake County totals include results from East Chicago and Gary, which have their own health departments.

To date, 30,869 tests have been reported to ISDH, up from 28,764 on Monday.

The complete list of counties with cases is included in the ISDH COVID-19 dashboard at which will be updated daily at 10 a.m. Cases are listed by county of residence. Private lab reporting may be delayed and will be reflected in the map and count when results are received at ISDH.

The dashboard also has been updated to make corrections based on updated information provided to ISDH.
