DANVILLE, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Fischer Theater in Danville Illinois has announced that “Out of an abundance of caution” they will be halting all public events through the remainder of the month of January.

Vermillion Heritage Foundation Executive Director, Jason Rome, added that “due to the current impact that the COVID-19 pandemic is having on our community, specifically the strain it is causing to our local healthcare system, we feel that the best way for us to positively impact the well-being of our community is to take a break from gathering in large groups at the Fischer Theater through the end of January.”

The decision was made after discussion with members of VHF’s board of directors, its staff and volunteers, as well as community stakeholders.

The plan is to cancel all remaining public events scheduled in January creating a pause in large gatherings, and then re-open with the first event in February, Danville’s Got Talent on Feb. 4.

In the meantime smaller, private party rentals will be available for the limited time of the public shutdown.
