EDGAR COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Edgar County Coroner’s Office reported Sunday that a Brocton man was killed while changing the oil in his car when the car jack tipped over and pinned him under his vehicle on Saturday evening.

Anthony Spradling, 25, was last seen by his family at approximately 6:45 p.m. when he announced he was going to work on his car. Thirty minutes later, a family member checked on him and discovered him trapped under the car in the residence’s driveway, and called 911. The Brocton Fire Department quickly raised the car and removed Spradling, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

Spradling was pronounced dead at the scene by Edgar County Coroner Scott Barrett.
