COVID-19 in Indiana: New death reported in Daviess County; Vigo surpasses 900 cases

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health on Wednesday announced that 506 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19, bringing the state total to 82,336.

The Vigo County Health Department reported a total of 931 cases as of noon Wednesday. Thirty-one of those cases are not yet reflected in the state total.

A total of 2,968 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 14 from the previous day. One new death was reported Wednesday in Daviess County for a total of 22 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Another 212 probable deaths have been reported statewide based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.

As of Wednesday, nearly 35 percent of ICU beds and more than 81 percent of ventilators were available across the state.

To date, 934,033 tests for unique individuals have been reported to ISDH, up from 928,614 on Tuesday.
