CLARK COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Illinois State Police reported Wednesday that an SUV sideswiped a unattended van parked on the shoulder of US 40 on Tuesday night and rolled several times, injuring the driver who was transported to an area hospital.

At 9:31 p.m., Kenneth Woods, 45, of Casey, Ill., was driving his white Ford Explorer eastbound on US 40 approximately ¼ mile west of 830th St. A blue Chevy van sat empty in the right shoulder. Woods sideswiped the van then overturned several times, coming to rest in a field south of the highway. Woods was taken by ambulance to a hospital with serious injuries. The van was knocked into a ditch on the south side of the highway.

The crash remains under investigation.
