VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A black bear was spotted in northeast Vanderburgh County. DNR Biologists confirmed the sightings before sunrise on Sunday.
DNR officials say this is the fourth confirmed black bear in Indiana this year, and that populations are expanding in neighboring states.
Experts urge you to remove food sources from your yard. Bears can smell food more than a mile away. Black bears are rarely aggressive toward humans, but you are urged not to feed them. View them from a distance and let your presence be known by shouting, waving your arms and back away slowly.
