Red Cross Relief for Michael

Hoosiers are helping provide Hurricane Michael relief.

The American Red Cross is gearing up and looking for volunteers to help folks in Florida, Alabama and Georgia.

On Tuesday night, close to 4 thousand people stayed in nearly 70 red cross evacuation centers across those states.

The Red Cross has prepared immediate shelter supplies to more than 15 thousand people. They’re also preparing to serve tens of thousands of meals each day once the storm passes.

“Red Cross can mobilize very quickly we’ve got folks from all around that are trained, but we’re always looking for new volunteers, but if someone wants to volunteer for the red cross, they can go to red cross dot org and we can get you trained for the next disaster,” Executive director of Southern Indiana Red Cross, Theo Boots said.

Early this morning, Duke Energy workers from the Wabash Valley left for Georgia to assist in utility repairs.
