Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb declares this week as Public Safety Telecommunicator Week.
The Vigo County 911 Dispatch Center works with four law enforcement agencies and about a dozen fire departments.
In major events, they can also coordinate with surrounding agencies.
Officials say they appreciate everyone’s support and recognition.
“It’s a very stressful job and it takes a lot of time to get comfortable with the work that you do. Even as long as some of us have been doing it, there are still things that arise that we’ve never dealt with, but it’s a very rewarding job,” says 911 dispatcher Sara Holbert.
Public Safety Telecommunicator Week runs through April 20.
