This Friday the community is invited to a special tribute for U.S. Senator Birch Bayh.
He passed away back in March.
The Vigo County native authored two amendments to the U.S. Constitution and is also the father of Title IX, which banned discrimination against women in college admissions and sports.
This tribute is organized by the Vigo County Democratic Central Committee, but the event is open to the public.
“Birch Bayh has a number of friends, colleagues who still live in Terre Haute and Vigo County, and as a hometown hero, it seems only appropriate that we recognize his life,” says committee chair Joe Etling.
The event will take place this Friday, April 26, at the VFW located at 1111 Veterans Plaza in Terre Haute. It starts at 5:30 P.M. and is free to the public.
