Proper Child Car Seats Can Save Lives

Illinois State Police hosted free child car seat checks on Monday.

WTWO News caught up with them in Hutsonville.

Certified child passenger safety technicians inspected child car seats, making sure the seats were properly installed and fitted for the children.

They also replaced expired seats with new ones.

Illinois State Police say proper child car seats can save lives.

“Troopers here were talking this morning about a crash recently that we worked and the kids were properly restrained in the child seats. It was a rollover crash and they were hanging safe in their seats, just as they should be,” says Trooper Tammy Welborn.

The event also made a stop in Martinsville.
