A local man has gone from law enforcement officer to suspect. This morning, investigators arrested Aaron McQuaid at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle.
The 25 year old Lawrenceville, IL man had worked as a WVCF officer for a year. He now faces two felonies, trafficking with an inmate and official misconduct.
According to a press release, McQuaid admitted to having tobacco in a pill bottle and a suboxone strip in his wallet. He also allegedly confessed to previously smuggling 50 suboxone strips into the prison for an inmate, and received a $500 payoff.
Suboxone is typically used in the treatment of opioid addiction, but it can be abused to get high.
At the time of his arrest, McQuaid was fired and stripped of his uniform. He was taken to the Sullivan County jail where bond was set at $23,000.
