Preparing to Paint the Town Pink

A local organization is getting ready to “Paint the Town Pink”.

On Thursday, Wabash Valley Breast Cancer Survivors got ready for its annual pink carnation sale.

They prepared over 16,000 flowers for the Paint the Town Pink fundraiser.

The money raised pays for mammograms for women who are uninsured or underinsured, gasoline cards to get to doctor appointments, free wigs for all women undergoing chemotherapy, and a coping kit that contains a pink, satin pillowcase, a drainage tube bag, a soft pink pillow and a soft seatbelt cover.

One of their goals is to help women catch cancer early.

“If the cancer is caught early, the treatment is not nearly as rough for them and that’s what we’re interested in. Some of us have been through some pretty rough treatments, so we want it caught early,” says organizer Coral Cochran.

The Paint the Town Pink carnation sales will happen at various locations around the Wabash Valley. You can view a full list of places here.
