A serious situation in Vincennes is over and a person is behind bars. The incident involved possible explosives in an apartment.
Earlier today, members of the Knox County Drug Court Team and the Vincennes Police were performing an accountability check at a residence. The location was in the 1900 block of College Avenue. Officials discovered potential explosive materials.
The discovery prompted the evacuation of the immediate area, while officials made sure the potential explosives were not a threat to the public.
A suspect was identified and taken into custody by the Vincennes Police Department. Residents were understandably nervous and curious about the incident.
“I went over and told my mom and the lady on the end and I went around and told all the neighbors what was going on I said get ready to leave I don’t know if they’re going to evacuate us or not, said Arlin Holmes, resident. Everybody was like freaking out.”
The ATF, Indiana State Police and Vincennes Fire Department were also instrumental in making sure the community was safe. The investigation continues.
