VIGO Co. Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Two people are in jail after a woman bit an Indiana State Trooper during a traffic stop in Terre Haute Friday night.

Police said the trooper pulled a vehicle over near the intersection of 15th and Orchard Streets for not stopping at a stop sign. It happened around 10:45 p.m.

They said a male driver was under the influence of alcohol while driving three children ages 3, 6 and 8.

Police said William Roberts was arrested after refusing to take a chemical test. He also had a warrant for domestic battery.

A female passenger in the vehicle, Daphney Allen, refused to identify herself and locked herself in the car.

Once she unlocked the door, she was handcuffed and placed in the back of the police car where police said she started breaking equipment.

They said Allen then bit the trooper on his forearm when he tried to put her in a seat belt

Roberts and Allen were taken to the Vigo County jail on several charges.

Police said Allen later hit a jail officer in the face with a closed fist and threatened officers.

The three children were released to Allen’s grandmother.
