A wreck on Interstate 70 in Putnam County Thursday morning was the result of reckless driving, according to Indiana State Police.
The accident occurred around 11:07 a.m. when a 2005 Chevrolet Corvette, driven by Martin Samourian, 55, of Jeffersonville, Ind. was traveling westbound on I-70 near the 42 mile marker.
According to witnesses, Samourian was driving at excessive speeds, weaving in and out of traffic. At one point, Samourian tried to pass another vehicle by traveling in a grassy median which him to lose control of his vehicle.
The Corvette traveled back across both lanes of westbound traffic before striking a guardrail on the north side. The vehicle was then thrown back onto the interstate, spinning uncontrollably several times, finally coming to a stop in the middle of the interstate.
Samourian was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported, by AirEvac, to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind. with life-threatening injuries.
At this time, this crash remains under investigation pending toxicology results, and reconstruction.
