TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – One person is dead and another is injured after a shooting in Terre Haute.
The investigation began early Friday morning when a female and male arrived at a hospital emergency room. The male had suffered gunshot wounds.
Terre Haute Police say the female initially told authorities she picked the male up at 9th and Oak. But according to police, she later told investigators that the shooting occurred at her home located at 64 Heritage Drive.
Police say she told investigators there was another male who had been shot at the home and that the suspect may also still be inside the house.
The Terre Haute Police Department’s Special Response Team (SRT) responded to the home.
SRT units entered the home and found the suspect. He was apprehended after a brief struggle.
Police found a deceased male inside the home. Officers also located three small children inside the home who are all OK.
The suspect, 36-year-old Durend Randall, is facing preliminary charges of murder and aggravated battery.
