Police continue investigation of car stolen with two children inside

News

According to Ryan Adamson, public information officer with THPD, nearly fifty percent of crimes involving stolen cars are due to the car being left running.

On February 24th around 5:30 p.m., a mother entered a Dollar General located on Lafayettte Avenue in Terre Haute.

When she left the store, her car with her five and six year old children was no longer there.

According to Adamson, a suspect stole the vehicle and drove one or two blocks, and then fled.

The vehicle was found and the children were unharmed but now Adamson says police need the community’s help in finding the person who was responsible.

“Somebody knows something. Somebody always tells somebody something. So any time you hear something like that, let us know. We’ll follow up on it. There’s no tip that’s too small. It may be nothing but it may be something,” Adamson said.

Anyone with information on the suspect is being asked to call detective Trey Gilbert at 812-244-2626.

The Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office has not filed charges at this time but the Department of Child Services has been contacted.
