We have updated information regarding the vehicle pursuit that occurred Wednesday night in Terre Haute.

On January 4th 2017, officers from Terre Haute Police Department located a suspicious vehicle in the area of the Red Roof Inn, in Terre Haute.

When officers ran the license plate on the vehicle, they found that it came back as not only being registered to a different motor vehicle, but that the vehicle the license plate was actually registered to was reported as being stolen.

The officer that was following this vehicle was in an unmarked police vehicle and as he was waiting for additional units to get in the area for a traffic stop, the driver of the suspect vehicle noticed the officer and began to flee from him.

Officers then activated the emergency lights and sirens and engaged in a vehicle pursuit with the suspect vehicle, which was a Chrysler PT Cruiser. After a pursuit that lasted several minutes, the suspect slowed down and officers could see the driver and front seat passenger switch places.

After the passenger began driving the vehicle immediately stopped, the officers were able to secure the vehicle and occupants without incident.

The driver was identified as 26 year old Brandon Segers, of Chicago, IL.

Segers was arrested for Criminal Recklessness (felony), Resisting Law Enforcement (felony) and Theft, for being in possession of the stolen license plate.

Segers’ charges are pending in Div. 1 court.

The other occupants of the vehicle were not charged with any crimes and were released at the scene.
