Police say a young boy takes his mother’s vehicle for a joy ride.

An Indiana State Police Trooper responded to a report of a vehicle stolen from Indianapolis.

The owner of the vehicle told police that her 11-year-old son had taken it.

The vehicle was eventually located on U.S. 40 near County Road 300 East in Putnam County.

Police say the juvenile told the trooper he was just going to drive around the block, but decided to keep going.

He ended up traveling on I-70 and took exit 37 north toward U.S. 40.

Police say the juvenile told the trooper he decided to go back home, but ran out of gas.

After consulting with the family and prosecutor’s office, authorities say no charges are being filed at this time.
