Planned power outage overnight in downtown Terre Haute

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Officials with Duke Energy say there will be a power outage in downtown Terre Haute overnight Tuesday for repairs.

The outage will be from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. Rick Burger with Duke Energy says the outage will take place in order to repair damage caused by a contractor doing work downtown.

The outage will stretch from U.S. 41 to 9th Street and from Cherry Street to Ohio Boulevard.

Burger warns the community if they dig underground, they need to make sure they are taking the proper safety measures.

“Any time you dig underground always be sure that it’s marked and you know where things are in the ground. This is something that’s going to be costly but someone could’ve gotten definitely hurt today too,” Burger said.

Burger says if everything goes well the repair could end before 3 A.M.
