WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Work on a pedestrian walk way connecting Terre Haute to West Terre Haute is seeing progress.

INDOT crews have installed poles along U.S. 150 for the 10 foot walkway.

INDOT hopes the project will be complete next October.

Lane restrictions in each direction started over a month ago along 150 for construction.

Debbie Calder with INDOT says they are working with Vigo County commissioners on the project for improved safety.

“It’ll be exciting once it is complete and a big safety improvement for pedestrians in that area,” Calder said.

The project is mostly federally funded, but Vigo County is also funding the project. Lane restrictions will last until the first of December and return next spring, until the project is complete.
