Parts of US 36 down to one lane beginning next week for bridge painting

PARKE, VERMILLION COUNTIES, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announced the U.S 36 Bridge over the Wabash River will be painted beginning next week.  

Traffic will be controlled at the bridge with a traffic signal allowing one lane of travel across the bridge. In addition Water St. with be closed at the intersection with U.S. 36. It is anticipated the traffic signal will be activated on Wednesday.

The painting should be completed and the bridge reopened to both lanes by Saturday, October 2.

Eagle Painting and Maintenance Co. Inc. was awarded this project for $2.3 million. The project also includes painting six bridges on I-65 in Tippecanoe County. This contract is expected to be completed by mid-November of this year.
