On Saturday October 22nd, the Drug Enforcement Administration is sponsoring the 12th nationwide “Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative.”
This initiative seeks to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft through proper disposal of prescription drugs.
Collection sites will be set up nationwide for expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs which will be properly disposed of without threat to the environment.
The program is for liquid and pill medications. Needles, new or used, will not be accepted for disposal. The service is also free and anonymous.
Indiana State Police is proud to announce their partnership with the DEA for the project. The drugs may be dropped off at any Indiana State Police Post, except the Toll Road Post. The event itself will be on Saturday, October 22nd, between the hours of 10 AM-2 PM.
Also partnering with the Indiana Prescription Drug Abuse Task Force, the ISP will host a drop off site on Friday October 21st from 11 AM-1 PM inside the Indiana Government Center North public entrance off of Robert Orr Plaza in Indianapolis.
The Drug Take Back events are a safe way of legally disposing of prescription drugs with no questions asked.
