VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A utility company partnered with a local disaster relief group Tuesday to make sure families in need have a holiday meal.

Helping His Hands in Vincennes packed food boxes for 500 families in the Vincennes and Knox County area.

The boxes contain all the fixings for the perfect Christmas meal.

Duke Energy donated $20,000 toward the effort.

“This whole event that’s feeding 500 families, it’s about $20,000 to make this happen and we couldn’t do this without the help of Duke Energy,” says Scott Shipman, Executive Director of Helping His Hands.

Kurt Phegley with Duke Energy says, “It’s always important for our corporation to give back. At Duke Energy, we always try to give back to our communities all across the state of Indiana and all our service territories.”

The boxes contain everything from ham to noodles, mashed potatoes, fruits, vegetables and pie.
