Three new options have been presented to the Sullivan County community. That is when it comes to the consolidation of Northeast School Corporation.
A survey posted on the corporation’s website wants to hear from community members, their take on a few more consolidation options.
Those being: Have the schools stay the same.
Move 6th graders back at the elementary schools and have 7th and 8th grades at North Central, closing the middle school.
Third new option, consolidating with Southwest School Corporation.
“I think what we’re trying to do is to say we’re just trying to come up with a plan, so we’re giving people more of an opportunity to express themselves and how they felt about the different plans and we’ll share all that on the 14th,” Northeast Schools Superintendent Mark Baker said.
The school corporation hopes to have a resolution by May 14th, where they’ll present their best option to the community.
That will be at their board meeting held at North Central High School at 7 p-m. You can fill out the online survey on the Northeast School Corporation’s website. The survey closes Friday at midnight.
