TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – As Indiana’s stay-at-home order continues officials say they are seeing an impact on the roads.
INDOT Commissoner Joe McGuinness says since the week of March 2nd, traffic volume has decreased by as much as 55 percent.
MccGuinness says the drop in traffic will allow INDOT to get an early start on construction season.
Both McGuinness and Sgt. Matt Ames with the Indiana State Police say they have also seen an increase in speeding, lately.
Ames says ISP has made several arrests locally due to speeds over 100 miles per hour.
He says during this time he encourages drivers to slow down and consider others.
