Officers Nationwide Honor Officer Pitts

News

Terre Haute’s loss of Officer Pitts isn’t just felt around the community, but across the entire country.

Police officers from Indiana and the United States started arriving Tuesday night for the service.

Law enforcement officers from as far as New York, Texas and Boston traveled to support their fellow officer.

Members of the brotherhood for the fallen attended as many funeral services of our fellow fallen officers as possible to give support to the families and the community of the fallen officer.

“It’s a brotherhood. You know we are a big family. Policing is just one big giant family so if it happens in another state it happens to all of us and it affects us all. So we just want to be here and represent our departments and our fellow officers.” — Officer John Danna | Fort Worth Police Department

“Whether it’s Indiana, New York City or Texas it’s virtually the same. The patch might be different but the job is the same and what we encounter is very similar. And the people in Indiana have been wonderful to us.” — Lieutenant Kevin McKeon | South County Police Long Island, NY.

More than 500 men and women in uniform attended Pitts’ service.

Several officers we spoke to say they will make trip to Florida, for the funeral of Highland County Sheriff’s Deputy William Gentry, that was killed shot and killed on Monday.
