UPDATE: After the autopsy was conducted, the Knox Co. Coroner confirmed that gunshot wounds to the shoulder, arm and internal torso area were the cause of David Zimmerman’s death.

One man is dead after a shooting with police.

It happened last night, just before 9 PM in Vincennes in the parking lot of Chuckle’s.
That’s a convenience store located on Old Decker Road.
Rebecca Brumfield spoke with officials who were on the scene.
Officers were trying to serve a felony warrant to 35-year-old David Zimmerman of Princeton, Indiana.
He was originally wanted in Gibson County for a parole violation of a manslaughter charge.
Tips on Zimmerman’s location led local law enforcement to Chuckles gas station.
And that’s when things began to escalate.
This is footage of last night from Sergeant Todd Ringle.
Ringle tells WTWO that when officers approached the Dodge Ram pick up truck, Zimmerman put the vehicle in reverse and hit an undercover car.
From that point, Zimmerman allegedly reached for a gun.
That’s when several officers opened fire on Zimmerman.
Ringle says there is always a level of danger with any issued warrant.
“Any time that there is an arrest warrant issued for a person, we know that that person may cause more problems or be a danger for law enforcement,” says Sgt. Ringle. “You know, that person who has that warrant for their arrest knows, for the most part, that they could go to prison for a number of years. And when people are wanted, they’re desperate. And they do some odd things.”
Zimmerman was transported to the Good Samaritan Hospital and later died of his injuries.
As of today, the autopsy of Zimmerman is still pending by the Knox County Coroner’s office.
They have released the names of the officers involved and they’re all veterans.
Master trooper Shaun Hannon, who’s been with ISP for 25 years, and troopers Korey Mauck and Justin Bean, Both with nine years service.
