A new year just started and for those of you who hope to quit smoking in 2020 help is available.

Horizon Health’s Occupational Health Clinic says nicotine patches, gum and lozenges can be effective in helping people to kick the habit.

This is known as Nicotine Replacement Therapy.

There’s also prescription pills like Chantix.

According to the Centers for Disease control, 1 out of every 5 deaths in the U.S. is smoking related, but the number of people who currently smoke has declined from nearly 21 percent of adults in 2005 to about 14 percent.

According to Advance Practice Nurse Sara Spesard, while it can be difficult to quit smoking, it’s important to keep trying.

Sara Spesard says, “Some people quit smoking and then something stressful happens in their life and they start smoking again unfortunately, but they’re are always those options to try and quit.”
