Washington residents will soon have a new way to stay fit.
Six new exercise stations are being added to Longfellow Park. Each station has two pieces of equipment for a total of twelve different activities. The stations will include various cardio and core exercises.
The money for the new equipment came from a share of the city’s cigarette tax.
“Cities get a cigarette tax that comes from when you buy a pack of cigarettes and we get that and the Mayor kind of was looking to put that back in the community into a healthier place”, Kip Kelley, Parks Superintendent of Washington.
The Washington Parks Department hopes to have the exercise finished done by the end of Friday.
