TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Wabash Valley Tennis Club has a new owner, new name and new game.

The club, now called Brickway features tennis and pickleball.

Pickleball is a cross between tennis and ping pong.

The new owners of the now, Brickway Tennis and Pickleball Club said they chose to include pickleball because of its growing popularity.

“Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in america. It has over three and a half million players. It’s grown six hundred percent in the last three years. And it’s a little easier to learn than tennis, quite frankly. But our view of it is people playing pickleball could start playing tennis. People playing tennis could start playing pickleball,” said co-owner Rick Witsken.

Former owner Jami Patterson said she sold the club to play tennis in a warmer location in the winter months.
