Vigo County, IN - It looks like an international pet food maker will be setting up shop in Vigo County, but in a different location than previously planned.
Saturn Petcare originally looked at the old Kellogg facility in Seelyville as the location for a new plant. That has fallen through, and the company is now working to purchase the former Pfizer property.
According to Steve Witt at Terre Haute Redevelopment, there are still several steps for both local officials and Saturn to complete. The negotiations include local tax abatements and state incentives.
If all goes as planned, the new operation will employ around 200 workers earning an average wage of more than $18.00 an hour.
Saturn Petcare is based in Germany, and is one of the leading makers in Europe of wet and dry food for both dogs and cats. The local facility would be the first Saturn manufacturing facility in the U.S.
