New ice cream shop celebrates official ribbon cutting ceremony

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — “What’s the Scoop?”, a Terre Haute ice cream shop, held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the store Friday to celebrate the business’ opening and first year.

Located inside the lobby of Top Guns on US-41, “What’s the Scoop?” actually opened last year during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it had not held an official ribbon cutting ceremony until now.

“I am just so thrilled with the support that we’ve received from our family, from our friends, from the community, from Rollie’s Pizza and Top Guns and the Climbing Cafe,” owner Jaimie Ellis said. “During the last year we were able to survive as a first year business and have this official grand opening and ribbon cutting, and looking forward to a great future.”

“What’s the Scoop?” has more than 40 flavors of hand scooped ice cream available for customers. The store also serves ice cream cakes, sherbet and yogurt and even have gluten-free and dairy-free options.

The store is currently open Tuesday through Saturday from noon until 7:30 p.m.
