A new partner in the fight against food insecurity for college students started operations Thursday afternoon.
The Sycamore Pantry held a ribbon cutting on the campus of ISU.
It is located in the rec center.
The pantry is for students and their dependants.
The idea is to give them a resource in times of need.
Lauren Baines with the food pantry says “It’s an on campus outlet to be able to provide nutritious meals as well as education for students because we know the research shows that if students are hungry they are not going to be academic successful.”
Besides food, the pantry contains baby items and toiletries.
It is a partnership between the Student Affairs Department, Campus Ministries and Catholic Charities.
