National Walking Day

Walking is one of the easiest changes a person can make to improve their health.

That’s why Union Health System took part in National Walking Day.

They encouraged employees to take a breakfast walk or a lunch walk.

Walking has many benefits, like reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke.

It also enhances a person’s mental well-being.

“I hope we meet new people, make friends when we’re out on our walk and they realize that Union Health System cares about their health. We want them to make time and take care of themselves,” says Doreen Bahus, RN, an Employee Health Advocate.

To take advantage of the benefits of walking, researchers say you should walk at least 30 minutes a day.
