Alex Trebek resumes chemotherapy

National News

CULVER CITY, Calif. (WTWO/WAWV) — Alex Trebek announced a setback in his fight against stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Trebek has kept his fans updated on his health through a series of video messages. In the latest video, released Tuesday, he announced he will need more chemotherapy.

“One of the things I have learned in the past six months is that the course of pancreatic cancer treatment is not a straightforward affair,” he said. “There are always curves and unexpected events.”

Earlier this month, Trebek announced he was done with chemo and was back on the set filming season 36 of Jeopardy!

“This past summer, because I was making such great progress, I thought I was done with chemo. That was a bit premature and certainly over optimistic,” he noted.

After immunotherapy made his “numbers go south, dramatically and quickly,” doctors decided to put him back on chemotheraphy.

“Hey, they worked very well the first time, so we’re expecting good results again,” he said of the chemo treatments. “But please keep me in your good thoughts and prayers. Believe me, it means a lot.”
