TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A member of the Indiana National Guard Solutions Group was recognized for efforts that benefited the local economy.

Nicholas Marchuk was honored by Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett. The city said Marchuk worked to bring a large joint special operations exercise to Indiana.

The ceremony was held at the Terre Haute Regional Airport. The airport housed majority of the aircraft for the exercise. This generated about $4.3 million dollars of revenue at Hulman Field, and $1.7 million dollars to Terre Haute’s hotels, restaurants, and rental car businesses.

“Its a great feeling. I put a lot of man hours into this and a lot of time but it should have been the whole team up here with me,” Special Operations Forces Training and Testing with the Indiana National Guard Solutions Group Nicholas Marchuk said. “Everybody carried a little bit of weight on their backs.”

The exercise hosted about more than 1,100 people and 46 aircraft.
