(WAWV/WTWO) Three former employees of a large northwestern Indiana dairy farm face animal cruelty charges.
Police identified the men Tuesday as 31-year-old Santiago Ruvalcaba Contreros, 36-year-old Edgar Gardozo Vazquez and 38-year-old Miguel Angel Navarro Serrano.
Prosecutors charged them Monday with beating of a vertebrate animal. Arrest warrants were issued for them. It’s unclear if they have attorneys who could speak on their behalf.
Undercover video showed them kicking, throwing and beating young calves.
The misdemeanor charges follow a backlash against Fair Oaks Farms up in Newton County.
The founder of Fair Oaks Farms said last week that four employees seen in the video had been fired and steps were taken to prevent further abuse.
