Names released in 7th Street gas station crash


TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Three people are in custody after a vehicle crashes into gas pumps at a local gas station.

Wednesday evening around 6:30, a black SUV crashed into the gas pumps at the Maui Stop and Shop on 7th and Springhill.

According to Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse, Katie Cheeseman, Kellsey Keyt and Candace Jones fled the scene and were later apprehended by the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department K-9 team.

The three were were transported to Regional Hospital where they were later cleared and taken into custody.

Cheeseman, the driver of the vehicle, is facing charges of resisting law enforcement, leaving the scene of a crash resulting in property damage and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

According to Sheriff Plasse, the group had been involved in a couple of hit and run accidents prior to hitting the gas station.

The three are currently being held in the Vigo County Jail.
