TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Tonight the NAACP held a presentation with Vigo County CASA officials to help remind the community that volunteers are critically needed for an important cause.
CASA volunteers, after being assigned a case with a child involved will meet with the child and learn what they can about them.
Volunteers use this information to help make decisions in what is best for each individual child and report what they have learned to the courts.
These children are normally neglected or abused when they come through the system.
Jan Hoff, a recruiter for CASA, said “over the last month we’ve been blessed by getting almost twenty candidates that came in and applied to be volunteers, which we are very grateful for. But, we need another 20, 30, 40. The need is just that great.”
