TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Hundreds of backpacks filled with food for the summer are on their way to local children in need.

Toyota of Terre Haute teamed up with WTWO/WAWV for the Pack It Back for the Summer program.

Community members and businesses like Baesler’s Market, Crane Credit Union, Vivid Smiles and Staples helped with the project.

Thanks to all of the donations, we were able to fill more than 250 backpacks with food Wednesday.

Scott Jaeger, President of Toyota of Terre Haute, says it’s great to see the community come together for this effort especially in uncertain times.

“I think this year with what’s been going on with COVID-19, how it’s affected people’s employment, people have had a lot of expenses and changes to their life, and people who in the past may have never needed help all of the sudden need a little bit of help,” says Jaeger.

We want to thank everyone who donated to the program.
