TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Area non-profits will benefit from the thousands of dollars donated during the Miracle on 7th Street event in Terre Haute.
Miracle on 7th Street board of directors handed out more than $17,000 Wednesday to eight local charities, including the Salvation Army and 14th and Chestnut Community Center.
This year’s fundraising efforts out-raised last year last year’s event by $5,000. More than four tons of food was also collected this year.
The two-day event takes place downtown every year and includes family-friendly activities including a lighted parade.
“We’re planning to do the 12th annual one next year,” event coordinator Terry Hogan said. “We’re in the process of delivering food today. We gave money out this morning delivering food starting this afternoon. Helping out.”
