The Indianapolis 500 takes place in May, but people are already getting excited for the greatest spectacle in racing.

On Friday, fans got the chance to meet Donald Davidson, the historian of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

WTWO sponsored the event at Clabber Girl.

Davidson travels around a lot in March and April, visiting communities and getting people geared up for the Indianapolis 500.

He says no matter how far he travels, whenever he asks who has been to the race before, he’s always amazed at how many people raise their hands.

“It’s just a nostalgic experience to be at the event because many people have been doing it for their entire lives and they’re third, fourth generation event-goers,” says Davidson.

The 103rd running of the Indy 500 takes place on May 26. You’ll be able to watch on WTWO.
