SULLIVAN, Ind. (WAWV/WTWO) – A local city is giving high school students and graduates the opportunity to work side by side with its mayor.
Mayor Clint Lamb officially announced the start of a Sullivan Summer Internship Program. Two Sullivan High School students or graduates will be chosen to work with Lamb and his team. They will learn about local government and help with current or future projects.
The internship will be from June 1 to August 1. Students can expect to work at least 20 hours a week and an opportunity to earn $1,000 after completing the program.
The Mayor said he’s excited to give students the chance to make an impact on the community.
“And what is one of our greatest assets? That’s our young talent, our young people and one of these days they’re gonna make an impact on a community somewhere. We want that to be right here in the city of Sullivan,” Lamb said. “It’s just as much their community as it is the Mayor’s or anybody else’s for that matter. So, really excited about it. A lot of great things going on here in the city of Sullivan and this is just icing on the cake.”
Interested applicants are encouraged to drop off their resume, cover letter, and references to City Hall or email firstname.lastname@example.org by the end of May.
