Brian Willenborg’s week went from bad to worse when he was arrested for residential burglary while already being held at the Coles County Jail on unrelated charges.
Willenborg walked into the Mattoon Police Department Tuesday to file a report, but ended up being arrested himself when he tried to discard methamphetamine in his possession while at the station.
While Willenborg was sitting in the Coles County Jail, Mattoon police were investigating a residential burglary that occured in the 800 block of Wabash Avenue in Mattoon Monday.
On Wednesday afternoon, Willenborg, 38, and Philip W. Swiech, 38, both of Mattoon, were charged with the crime. Swiech was transported the the Coles County Jail where Willenborg was already being held.
