TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Maryland Community Church said thank you to local grocery stores in the form of hand written cards from church members.

We caught up with a crew at Fresh Thyme Tuesday as the cards were handed over. Church member Bethany Geisel says the church also went in on gift cards. Each worker at several grocery stores received a thank you note.

“Thousands of thank yous has just been a way to show our love for our community and encouragement just a way for us to give a blessing to people who have been blessing us with necessities, so thank you for all you do,” Geisel said.

All three Terre Haute Kroger stores also got thank yous, along with Save-A-Lot, Aldis and some grocery stores in Clinton.

Geisel says Maryland Community Church will continue handing out sack lunches in the 12 points location through the end of may.
